If you follow the Live Through This Facebook page, you probably know that I share interesting or educational content relevant to mental illness and suicide awareness on a near-daily basis. That page is the main outlet for real-time engagement and conversation with supporters of the project. I realize, though, that some folks aren’t exactly fond of such fast-paced/annoying/full of pictures of food and/or babies/insert preferred adjective here social media, so I thought I might share some of that content on Ye Olde Blog from time to time.

This is one of those times. In no particular order, here are some of the more interesting articles I’ve found—or have had sent to me—over the past couple of weeks:

1. Please Stop Saying “Committed” Suicide
2. Real advice for those who’ve attempted suicide, and want to step back into life | TED Blog
3. 5 Facts Everyone Gets Wrong About Depression
4. 21 Comics That Capture The Frustrations Of Depression
5. Safety Plan – an app released by the NY Office of Mental Health
6. @deseraestage of shares wisdom, stories on #SPSM chat

If you think there’s something I need to see and share, please feel free to leave a comment here, post it on my Facebook wall (after you add me as a friend, of course!), email it to me (, or have it delivered via carrier pigeon.

Live Through This is a labor of love requiring a lot of time and care. I do most of the work myself, but do have a small team of volunteers taking care of tasks I simply don’t have the expertise to handle on my own. I am currently in need of long-term transcriptionists and a dependable social media assistant. As I have no budget, these positions are unpaid. If you are interested, please contact me.
