3 Days Left to Get Your #STAY Shirts!

by | 01/27/2016 | 0 comments

Lovelies! We just had an amazing blizzard! I miss you, Jonas (you gave me a reason to hole up in my house and binge watch bad reality TV)! It’s finally winter! I’m ready for it to go away now!

Just dropping a line to let y’all know that #STAY shirts (adult tees, youth tees, long sleeved tees, ladies tees, and HOODIES!) are available until Sunday at midnight EST.

I know that many of you have at least one, if not more, but I gotta throw it out there just in case. I’ve been LOVING the selfies that show up on social media. They make me really happy, especially given that this whole #STAY shirt thing was an experiment—I love that they resonate so much. There are 500 or so of these shirts out in the world, reminding people to #STAY. Hell, it’s even been the case that universities/orgs have bought a bunch of shirts and handed them out to their groups! I love it. I love you. I’m glad you’ve all made the choice to #STAY.

For those of you who don’t know much about the #STAY shirts, I originally made them for National Suicide Prevention Month, but they kinda stuck. They’re a physical, visual reminder for those of us struggling, for those who have struggled, and for those who care about folks who struggle: Stay. Hold on for one more minute, then one more day, a week, a month, a year. Keep holding on. Hold on until you can safely loosen your grip and just be. Stay. You’re not alone. We’re here with you.

It’s not only a reminder. It’s a conversation piece. If we’re going to change public attitudes and work toward saving the 41,000 lives lost to suicide in the U.S. every year, we need to talk openly about suicide, without fear or shame. When someone asks what the shirt’s all about, tell ’em! The more open we can be, the more we can have productive conversations, the more we can effect change.

Want one? Get yours here. Remember: you’ve only got until Sunday at midnight EST.

PS: If you have requests for other colors, just let me know, and I’ll see what I can do. Happy to try new things, as always. The only caveat is that 11 need to sell for the print run to be fulfilled.

Volunteer

Live Through This is a labor of love requiring a lot of time and care. I do most of the work myself, but do have a small team of volunteers taking care of tasks I simply don’t have the expertise to handle on my own. I am currently in need of long-term transcriptionists and a dependable social media assistant. As I have no budget, these positions are unpaid. If you are interested, please contact me.

Want to support us?

Live Through This is made possible in part by donations from incredible humans like you.

If the project moves you and you have even a single dollar to spare, please consider donating. Every dollar donated goes straight back into the project. These funds allow for gear, web real estate and hosting, travel associated with the project, professional fees, conference attendance, and more.

For more ways to support us, be sure to check out our merchandise, subscribe to our mailing list, and join the #STAY campaign by sharing a picture of you and your Live Through This gear!
